Dear Friends and Family,For the past two months, Thomas and I have been in the States driving across country visiting family, friends and a number of different churches that have been involved with us in Nicaragua. It was a trip of a lifetime, and while I am glad to be done with all of the driving, it was worth every moment! It was so much fun to see people personally and get back in touch with so many friends and family that I had not seen in a long time, and for many it was the first time to meet Thomas. We have been in CA for a week with my parents and are getting ready to head back to Nicaragua. With our little one due in October, we are very excited to get things ready around the house!
We wanted to share some fun facts from our trek across the country as well as some of our many pictures. We so enjoyed seeing so many of you and wanted to say a HUGE thanks to everyone who opened their homes to us and/or helped us out along the way! May God bless you greatly!
Fun Facts
Total miles traveled = 9974 miles
Total number of States that we stayed in = 23
Total number of States that we drove through = 33
Lowest temperature = 28 degrees (waking up after camping in the Grand Tetons, Wyoming)
Highest temperature = 118 degrees (driving in southern Nevada)
Lowest elevation = -8 feet (New Orleans)
Highest elevation = 12,000 (Loveland Pass, CO after hiking up at least 10-20 feet)
Most embarrassing moment - for Amanda it was definitely riding the NYC subway for the first time in many years and having to stand during rush hour and consequently falling into a guy's lap when the subway halted to a stop!
Everyone along the way has asked Thomas what his favorite part of the trip was or what was his favorite food. Those are hard questions to answer for him because he enjoyed the whole experience. He definitely enjoyed visiting a number of the different National Parks and his favorites were Zion and Yellowstone. Other highlights were visting New York City, getting to know more about the Amish culture when we visited Andy's family, touring an air force base with my aunt and uncle and meeting most of my extended family!
As we return to Nicaragua, we feel refreshed and very blessed to have had the opportunity to do a trip like this. We are looking forward to getting back into the swing of things in Nicaragua with the sports center and teams coming soon as well as continuing the scholarship program for the 2007 school year. And we know that we have exciting times ahead as our lives are about to change come October! We thank each and every one of you for your prayers and support - God bless!
Seeking Him for life,
